A white wine would be an excellent pairing for this dish. You can even enjoy the remainder of the wine you cooked with. It's a popular ingredient in Pasta cuisine that's a relatively new addition to the Japanese diet. To ukasumi honest i only know one restaurant in Japan that serves really good squid ink ikasumi. It's not the worst. Anyone else??? Serve and enjoy!

I laughed so hard at this! Plus salt. My guess is that missionaries or traders from the Mediterranean brought this type of cuisine to Japan.
